This Monday, I worked on getting all the songs to be the correct length of time, based off of Zoe's edits of each person's segments. Segment One was just the intro - some b-roll edited together. The song was just a tad too long, so I changed the tempo to make it fit the seconds correctly. For the next couple segments, I mostly went through the loop and tried to figure out which parts I should keep and which I should delete in order to get it as close to the necessary time as possible. In most cases, I was able to get it down within one second of the actual time. However, for some songs that required the music to stop in the middle of a bar or on the third bar of a four-bar phrase, so I had to go back in and write little cadences and endings for a lot of the songs. It was also sometimes tricky to know which "mood" to use - each segment was only one person talking, but sometimes they talked about a lot of different topics and switched between the four moods (happy, sad, inspiring, neutral) a lot. I ended up using the neutral songs for each persons intro, but the others were more difficult. In one segment, Mark talked for about five minutes and I ended up putting together neutral, happy, and sad in order to bridge those five minutes properly. There was a lot of fiddling with the ends of phrases and rewriting of beginnings and transitions, but ultimately it all came together fine. I ended up using all the songs I wrote, and I even reused a couple.
Then, I wrote a short little guitar ditty for our "production company" intro, which just says "Low Rez Productions" (because our initials spell out Rez! it's cute). It was only seven seconds long, and I did it similarly to Jason's music, with a couple layered guitar recordings. I also threw in a little ambient noise synth pad and a digital bass, just for fun.
